Every install should start with protection

BH IPPT is wide interior protection tape designed to shield sensitive vehicle surfaces from scratches, tool marks, and accidental scuffs during installation work.

Steering wheels, center consoles, door sills, door seals, and trim edges are the most common areas that get damaged when pulling panels, routing wiring, or doing radio and DSP upgrades.

The real math

One interior scratch can cost more than a lifetime supply of IPPT. Add this to every new car install quote. The customer will thank you and the shop owner will too.

Primary use cases

Radio upgrades and dash work
  • Cover steering wheel rims and spokes to prevent tool scuffs
  • Shield center consoles from scratches when placing panels/tools
  • Protect glossy trim, piano black, and display bezels
  • Prevent belt buckle and tool rub marks during wiring work
Door panels and interior disassembly
  • Cover door seals to resist scuff marks during repeated entry
  • Protect door sills and rocker trim from shoes and tools
  • Shield edges where panels rest while you work
  • Reduce accidental scratches when routing speaker wiring
High-risk areas to protect first
  • Steering wheel
  • Center console and shifter surround
  • Piano black trim and gloss bezels
  • Door seals and door sills
  • Painted trim edges and soft-touch plastics

Best practices

  1. Start clean. Wipe surfaces so the tape bonds evenly and removes cleanly.
  2. Cover the contact zones. Protect where panels, tools, and elbows actually touch.
  3. Use wide coverage. Overlap slightly on seams and edges to prevent gaps.
  4. Replace as you go. If it gets dirty or wrinkled, refresh the strip for a clean finish.
  5. Remove slowly. Peel back at a low angle to keep edges clean and avoid lifting trim.
Pro Tip

Use IPPT for making panel templates, especially when doing CLD damping with Blackhole MAT. Lay IPPT on the panel, mark and cut your template lines, then transfer to your CLD sheet. You will get perfect fits every time and save up to 50% on labor time.
