Blackhole FIVE

High-Efficiency Enclosure Acoustic Damping

Controls what the enclosure does AFTER the subwoofer moves

Blackhole FIVE is a multi-layer acoustic damping system engineered to control internal reflections, enclosure wall vibration, and harmonic buildup. It delivers repeatable, long-term performance without changing tuning or power.

Where It Works

  • Sealed subwoofer enclosures
  • Ported subwoofer enclosures
  • Speaker cabinets and specialty enclosures

What It Does

  • Reduces enclosure ringing and box coloration
  • Absorbs 2nd and 3rd harmonic energy
  • Improves perceived clarity and bass definition
  • Helps the sub play cleaner, tighter bass

Why It Works – 5-Layer Construction

1. Diamond-Pattern Embossing

Improves acoustic interaction in lower midrange and mid-bass frequencies.

2. High-Efficiency Absorption Foam

Absorbs internal sound energy instead of reflecting it.

3. Limp Vinyl Sound Barrier

Interrupts energy transfer and reduces harmonic buildup.

4. Closed-Cell Isolation Foam

Decouples vibration from enclosure walls.

5. Hi-Loss Damping Layer + Adhesive

Converts vibration into heat and locks material firmly in place.

75 Hz LR24 Low-Pass Explained

Even with a 75 Hz Linkwitz-Riley 24 dB/oct crossover, harmonic energy above the crossover still exists. Without enclosure damping, this energy creates muddy upper bass.

  • No Damping: Upper bass smear up to ~112 Hz
  • Stuff 2S: Cleaner sealed-box bass below 75 Hz
  • Blackhole FIVE: Cleanest bass with reduced enclosure ringing

Proper Installation

  • Apply to at least three opposing internal walls
  • Do NOT block airflow behind the magnet
  • Do NOT block port airflow

Installer Tip

The subwoofer still does the work. Blackhole FIVE controls how the enclosure responds after the cone moves. This is how you deliver tighter, more accurate bass without redesigning the system.
